Layers of Self

Description

I create by layering, piecing together, breaking apart, molding, peeling away and allowing the image to reveal itself in the process. My work is never pre-destined to be a certain way. My eastern heritage has been a strong influence; I am inspired by hand-loomed textiles, traditional costumes, music and poetry. I have always been drawn to bold color that evokes flavor and emotion. My palette is reminiscent of aromatic spices like cayenne, the sweetness of mango, the tartness of pomegranate, and the richness of gemstones like emerald and lapis lazuli.
